Local Hotels

Hotel Information

ESP currently does not offer any residential programs. If you do not live in the Cambridge/Boston area and wish to attend Splash, you will have to provide your own accommodations. The MIT Visitor Information Page has information and links to local hotels. Additionally, here are some discounts that local hotels are offering specifically to Splash! 2009 students and their families (Splash! 2009 is scheduled for Saturday, November 21 and Sunday, November 22):

  • The Le Meridien Hotel is offering group rates of $149 per night. To reserve a room, click here. This offer is only available through October 21 (which is unfortunately before Splash Student Registration opens…); so, reserve early! Le Meridien is within about a block of the eastern end of MIT’s main campus. Student Registration and Check-in will be in the middle of campus, so walk down Vassar St to Massachusetts Ave; from there, follow the signs to Splash.

  • The Kendall Hotel is offering rooms for $169 per night ($179 for a room with a double bed). To reserve a room, call them at 1-866-566-1300 and ask specifically for the “SPLASH group rate”. The Kendall Hotel is located in Cambridge’s Kendall Square, about half a block away from the the eastern end of MIT’s main campus. Student Registration and Check-in will be in the middle of campus, so walk down Vassar St to Massachusetts Ave; from there, follow the signs to Splash.

  • The Best Western Terrace Inn is offering rooms for $99.99 a night. When reserving a room, ask for the “MIT ESP Splash Program” rate. To get to the MIT campus by mass transit, take the Green Line “B” train from Commonwealth Ave and Washington Street, inbound to Hynes Convention Center; then walk upstairs and take the #1 Bus outbound to the “77 Massachusetts Ave / MIT” stop. Alternatively, from Hynes Convention Center, walk north four blocks on Massachusetts Ave and cross the Harvard Bridge; from there, keep going on Massachusetts Ave for another half-block and follow the signs to the correct building. Expect about 40 minutes of travel time.

  • Boston also has a number of hostels. ESP has not vetted any of these, and does not have a relationship with them, but the following hostels have received favorable reviews. Most hostels are happy to house parents as well as students:

If you are a Junior or Senior in high school, and would like to visit MIT during the week (sorry, this won’t help for any of our programs), you can participate in MIT’s overnight program.
