ESP currently does not offer any residential programs. If you do not live in the Cambridge/Boston area and wish to attend Splash, you will have to provide your own accommodations. The MIT Visitor Information Page has information and links to local hotels. Additionally, here are some discounts that local hotels are offering specifically to Splash! 2007 students and their families (Splash! 2007 is scheduled for Saturday, November 17 and Sunday, November 18):
The Best Western Terrace Inn is offering rooms for $89.99 a night. When reserving a room, ask for the MIT Splash rate. To get to the MIT campus, take the Green line from Washington Street inbound to Park Street. Then transfer to the Red line and take the outbound to Kendall/MIT (third stop). Once you have reached Kendall, you are at the edge of the MIT campus.
The Hotel @ MIT is offering rooms for $169 a night. When reserving a room, mention that you are participating in Splash! 2007. The Hotel @ MIT is located within a few minutes’ walk from campus. IMPORTANT: The cutoff date for making a reservation here is October 17, 2007!!
Update: the block of rooms at Hotel @MIT has filled up. Please book a room at a different hotel.
The Holiday Inn Boston at Beacon Hill is offering rooms for $119 a night. When reserving a room, mention that you are participating in Splash! 2007. All reservations should be made by October 18, 2007. The Holiday Inn Boston at Beacon Hill is located several subway stops from campus. Take the Green line from Government Center inbound to Park Street (first stop). Then transfer to the Red line and take the outbound to Central (third stop). Walk south down Massachusetts Avenue for several minutes to reach campus.
In addition to these three hotels which offer discount rates especially for Splash students and their families, Discount Hotels Worldwide is a site which is helpful for finding discount hotels anywhere in the world (note that the prices are listed in GBP, not USD).
You are, of course, under no obligation to stay at any of these hotels, and if you can find a better deal elsewhere (through AAA membership or otherwise), we encourage you to take it.
