Meet the Officers

The ESP officers and program directors are quite a bunch of people. We’re not sure how else to say it, actually. Why don’t you decide for yourself? Feel free to e-mail any of us!

Executive Board

ESP Chairmen: David Farhi ‘10 and Chris Kennedy ‘10

Chris is a 5/18 (chemistry/math) major who is constantly tempted by the forces of evil (physics). He divides his time between being ridiculously busy with classes, being ridiculously busy with ESP, and playing quiz bowl with MIT’s team. When he can spare a moment, he reads miscellaneously, listens to classical music, and roots vigourously for the Yankees (never a popular position).

David is very busy, but he is also lazy and hasn’t entered his biographical information yet. He will be described on his behalf in a couple of days if he doesn’t put something in here!

Treasurer: Jason Alonso

Jason is a graduate student in the MIT media lab where he works with and builds very strange gadgets such as salt shakers that play music and tables that tell you if your building is environmentally friendly. He also enjoys dabbling in artificial intelligence when the salt shakers aren’t looking. He also does considerable work on the website.

Assistant Treasurer: Roshini Zachariah ‘09

Roshini is in 20 and 21M (BioEngineering and Music). She enjoys reading sci-fi and punting her own homework to help with other people’s problem sets. She plays the flute in MITWE and will go on rants about Hindemith if you’re not careful - as well rants about engineering microbes. She’s a rabid Red Sox fan and is unable to speak more than five sentences without sarcasm.

Secretary: Yalu Wu ‘09

Yalu Wu is a junior in Courses 14 and 15, Economics and Management Science. She is minoring in Music and loves to teach on subjects related to the Arts, such as music and painting classes, among others. She knows a lot about our programs and where things exist in the office, so please ask!

Publicity Chair: Stephanie Bachar ‘11

Membership Coordinator: Andrew Geng ‘11

Historian: Jessie Mueller ‘11 and Michelle Bentivegna ‘11

Officers

Webmaster: Beth Schaffer ‘11

Beth doesn’t like writing these very much. She might fix this biography later.

Art Directors: Mindy Eng ‘10 and Roshini Zachariah ‘09

Mindy is a Course 2, Mechanical Engineering, sophomore. She enjoys teaching random things, including origami, and has a particular fondness for anything involving H2O. She also founded a tutoring group in her high school back in New York City. In her free time, she likes to design things, build things, make things and swim.

Office Managers: Michael Price ‘08 and Roshini Zachariah ‘09

Michael Price got involved with ESP by teaching an HSSP course on Audio and Speaker-building in 2005. Since then he helped direct Splash! 2005, and taught several courses on audio, electronics, and robotics at HSSP, Splash, and Splash on Wheels. He was a chairman for calendar year 2007, and now he’s returned to teaching and working on the Web site (while, of course, keeping the office in good order!). If you bring him a CD of good music, he’ll stop whatever he’s doing to listen to it with you.

Roshini’s got so many ESP jobs that you can learn about her by reading one of the other descriptions above.
