Hello Everyone!

As directors for the 2008-2009 year, let us be the first to welcome you to DELVE! We are really excited to begin this year. We are offering 10 different subjects, from English Literature to Economics, and almost everything in between. The classes will be taught by a group of teachers who love what they are teaching and are very excited to pass along their love to all of you. But most of all we are excited to meet you all, the students, who will be participating in this program and who, we hope, will grow academically and intellectually as the year goes by as a result of this program. So without any further delay, let us begin this program!

To be officially enrolled in this program you must come in person to the on-site registration held from 1:00PM to 3:00PM on September 14th (this Sunday). For those of you who have participated in DELVE before, we are doing registration differently. You will report to the classroom of the subject you wish to take. 1-190 General Information: This will be for those students who did not pre-register, who want to change into different class from what they registered, or for anyone who has other questions about Delve

The address you will need to reach MIT is 77 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02139. You will walk up the steps, through the big pillars and into a big lobby with the dome directly above you. That is Lobby 7. There will be signs there pointing to buildings 1 and 5, where all our classes will be held.

You will need to bring with you the following things:

1) Tuition payment (unless you already paid online or received full financial aid): check of $200 payable to MIT Educational Studies Program. We do NOT take Cash!

2) A check for $150 as a textbook deposit. This check will be returned at the end of the year, provided you return your textbook.

3) Completed Medical forms and waivers forms. To print out these forms go to: http://esp.mit.edu/media/uploaded/08_08/delve_liability_medical.pdf Unless you received financial aid, you must bring these checks. If you are unsure about whether you received financial aid, we will have a list of financial aid recipients so we can look you up during registration. You must also bring the medical form. Immediately following registration at 3:00PM we will begin classes, which will end at 5:00PM.

If you have any other questions, let us know! Once again, welcome to DELVE!!

What is Delve?

Delve is ESP's Advanced Placement (AP) program, offering opportunities to take classes culminating in Advanced Placement exams offered by The College Board. This provides the opportunity for students to take AP classes that are not offered by their school.

What courses are being offered this year?

Delve 2008-2009 is offering courses in Biology, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Chemistry, Economics, English Literature, Music Theory, Physics B, Physics C, and Psychology to prepare high school students for the College Board's Advanced Placement exams in May.

When do classes meet?

Classes will meet weekly on the MIT campus on Sundays from 1:30-5 pm. Online pre-registration will be open in August. You can create an account in order to receive and email notification when registration opens. Registration will be in September on the MIT campus. Classes will begin that week and conclude in early May prior to AP tests.

Who can participate?

Delve is open to all students in grades 9 through 12. We do not accept students who are not in high school.

How much does Delve cost?

Delve costs $200 for the entire year. If you wish to take the AP exam, we can register you for an additional $84. There is also a $150 textbook deposit which will be returned to you at the end of the program when your textbook is returned. Financial aid is available. Our admissions are need-blind.

How does registration work?

Please pre-register yourself on this website when pre-registration opens in August.

Official Registration is Sunday, September 14th, 2008. You MUST come to official registration to fully register for your class. If for some reason you cannot make official registration but still want to stay in the program, you must notify the directors, if you have not already done so.
