Junction 2008 begins Monday, June 30th!We look forward to seeing you on Monday! Please read on so you know what to do for the first day. You may read our information packet online; every student will receive a copy on Monday, so you don’t need to print it out. You DO need to print out and sign the medical and liability form, however. Where and WhenPlease come to room 1-190 on the MIT campus on Monday, June 30th at 5:30 if you have a first period class or sometime between 6:30 and 7:30 if you have only a second period class (directions are below). This is the first day of Junction; classes will be operating on a different schedule with some orientation activities. We’ll try to get you acquainted with your teachers and give you a chance to meet fellow students. The schedule is:
On a typical day of Junction, the entire time (5:30 - 9:30 PM) will be spent in classes except for a 30-minute dinner break. The break is at 7:30 PM on Monday and Wednesday, and 7:00 PM on Tuesday and Thursday. If you have any food restrictions you want us to know about, email them to junction@mit.edu. We will have vegetarian options, but What to BringFirst, we recommend that you don’t bring food on the first day, since we’re having a pizza party! After Monday, you’re welcome to bring dinner, buy into our group dinners (this is explained in the food section), or get something at the local food courts. Please print and fill out the Junction student agreement, and have your parents fill out our medical and liability forms. The forms are available at the following links: We cannot let you into the program unless we have all of these forms completed and signed! Please also bring payment for tuition. The fee for this program is $200 for one class, or $300 for two classes. Please pay with a check, made out to “MIT ESP” (without the quotes). We will accept cash, but really prefer checks. If you received financial aid, please make your check out for that amount. Where to GoRegistration will begin at 5:30 PM in room 1-190. Here is an online map highlighting building 1. The office will be in room 1-190 for the first day, so you should come there even if you are coming in late. In general, the office will be in room 1-135. The office will definitely have someone attending it during the first half hour of each class (and we will probably be found there the rest of the time too). Should you need to reach us, our phone number is 617-253-4882. Instructions for ParentsJunction is a small program focused on providing a fun environment for in-depth learning. There is no need for parents to come to Junction, even on the first day. Our orientation events and classes are solely for the students and teachers. We are sorry that we can’t offer any structured activities for parents. That’s it!If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone or by e-mail. See you Monday!
