Bit Hacks
Welcome to the homepage for the Bit Hacks class. Students will learn about the power of bits and binary numbers and their applications in programming (mostly C and C++).
Since this class is held from 11:05AM to 12:55PM, food will be provided.
Good things to know before coming to class:
- Have written some code before. (Alice and GUI programming languages do not count, but assembly (and C, C++, Java, Lisp, etc) does!)
- Know your number bases: binary, decimal, hexadecimal.
- Be able to think logically. Having exposure to bitwise and, or, not helps!
Other computer science related things:
- The USA Computing Olympiad is a national competition that provides monthly algorithmic challenges in the form of a three-hour contest. There are three levels, Gold, Silver, and Bronze, to cater a wide range of skill levels.
