Participate in the 3nd Annual Splash Book Exchange!
What is the Splash Book Exchange?
Every Splash, we invite participants (student, teachers, parents, and volunteers) to bring in new and gently used books to donate to our book exchange. For every book you bring in, you will be given a coupon which you can then redeem for any other book at the book exchange. Books that are left over on Sunday night will be donated to ReadingTree, a book collection charity which distributes new and used books to needy areas in the US and around the world. This is a great chance to exchange books you have lying around the house that you’ll never read again for books that will provide you with hours of entertainment.
What kinds of books do you accept?
Just as the motto of Splash is “learn anything,” so the motto of the Splash book exchange is “read anything.” Picture books, children’s books, young adult books, general books, fiction, nonfiction, all will be accepted! Parents are more than welcome to participate in the book exchange independently of their children. We ask only that any books you bring in be in a good enough condition that someone else would want to take them home (no torn or sticky pages, binding ripped off, etc.). As a clarification, coupon books and magazines are NOT books, and if you still have a Windows 95 manual lying around the house, we don’t want it either.
Sounds great! When/where do I drop my books off?
You can drop off your books in exchange for book coupons all day Saturday and until 6pm on Sunday. You can redeem your coupons for books starting at 12pm on Saturday (so we have time to sort the initial influx of books into easily accessible categories) and until 6pm on Sunday (when we start boxing them up to be picked up by ReadingTree). The book exchange will be located in the Chipman Room (6-104) all weekend.
