Virtual HSSP FAQs

Can non-MIT affiliates teach?

Yes! We allow non-MIT affiliates to teach most years, and this year is no exception.

What platforms can we use?

All Summer HSSP classes will be taught on Zoom. If you think this could be a problem for your class, send us an email at summer-hssp@mit.edu.

How can we learn how to use Zoom?

We will be providing teacher training sessions. Zoom also has tutorial pages here.

How will the minors policy work?

The minors policy described here will still hold. Some preliminary considerations:

  • There should be two teachers in every online classroom, including Zoom breakout rooms. However, brief visits to breakout room groups from a single teacher are allowed.
  • Teachers should also not initiate or respond to student private messages.

Can we still request class supplies?

Yes, you can still request class supplies. You can request up to $50 worth of class supplies. All class supplies should eventually be returned. Due to the virtual nature of Summer HSSP 2021, our requirement for returning class supplies will be relaxed. If you request class supplies for your class, we will contact you about this.
