SATPrep runs once a week on Sundays from 1:30 - 5 pm. There are 9 weeks of classes, split into two test days and seven class days. The two test days come at the beginning and end of the program. The initial test is to aid us in placing our students in appropriate level classes. Since the day is split into three periods (one for Math, one for Crit. Reading, one for Writing), each students gets a combination of classes tailored to their needs. For example, if your child is strong in Math, but weak in other sections, he or she will be placed in a high level Math section and the appropriate levels for Crit. Reading and Writing. The second test is to provide a measurement for improvement as well as strengths and weaknesses.
Each class period is 1 hour long, with a 15 minute break in between periods for moving between classes. Each level within each block has a dedicated teacher. While the material for the SAT I is selected by the college board, we allow our teachers to create their own syllabi. This enables them to teach the material in a manner best suited for the particular level; it also provides the opportunity to create a more engaging learning environment and liven up the material.
If your child has any physical handicaps, please inform us ahead of time so we can make suitable arrangements. If your child has any other special needs, please inform us. While we will work with your child to the best of our ability, our teachers are college students and are not trained in how to handle special needs children.
