Brief Biographical Sketch:

Lyla Johnston is currently a sophomore at Stanford University. She is studying anthropology with an environment and health focus. Throughout high school, she performed and competed in spoken word throughout high school. She sees it as an important tool for spreading ideas of revolution and justice. She has won state, regional and national awards. She is currently part of the Stanford Spoken Word Collective and is trying to propagate the art of free expression on the Stanford campus.

Spoken Word is a rapidly growing art-form which blends performance and free verse poetry. This class will unlock the explosive quality of the dictionary and educate students on the beauty of free expression.
