This course will be an introduction to the structure of the Financial Markets. We will start off on the basics and talk briefly about the financial markets for Stocks, Bonds, Commodities, and Derivatives. We will also talk about the major players in the industry such as Investment Banks, Hedge Funds, and Investment Managers. We will then focus on the regulatory and compliance environments which governs the financial markets. There have been many changes in the regulatory environment, as President Obama implemented the Dodd-Frank Law. This has been a hot topic in the news over the last few years, and this will also be discussed. We will also talk about how/what happened during the financial crisis over the last 4 years. This course will be beneficial for students who want to understand financial regulations and what the future holds, as they may get into the financial services industry field at some point in their career. This course will be fun and interesting as we students will get involved in the discussion and we will have a simulation at the end of the class.
