S14719: Ice Cream and Other Cold Things: Fun with Liquid Nitrogen in Splash 2021 (Nov. 20 - 21, 2021)
Come watch us use liquid nitrogen to shatter fruits and rubber balls, freeze bubbles, and levitate chalk! We’ll be making liquid nitrogen ice cream (and you can follow along at home by substituting the liquid nitrogen with salt, ice, and elbow grease). Along the way, we’ll also explain the science of liquid nitrogen and show you a bunch of cool (get it?) demos!

Z14221: The History of Your Genetic Information in Splash 2020 (Nov. 14 - 15, 2020)
The most personal type of data you can own is your genetic information. As sequencing becomes more common, your genome has become more accessible to you, researchers, the government, and companies looking to make a profit. Is your genome worth keeping private? Are there ways to protect it? This class will address these questions by delving into how genetic information has been utilized and exploited in recent history.

X14351: How to Run a Splash in Splash 2020 (Nov. 14 - 15, 2020)
Splash is run by undergraduate and graduate students at MIT. And beyond MIT, there are Splashes and other similar educational programs at universities and high schools nationwide. How does it all happen, and what are some of the things behind the scenes that you don't usually get to see? Come learn about all of the intricacies that go into running a massive program like Splash and find out how you can do it too! We'll cover what goes into organizing Splash at MIT, as well as resources and next steps if you want to run something like Splash at your own school. Presented by former Splash directors :)

X14387: Ice Cream in Splash 2020 (Nov. 14 - 15, 2020)
Come learn the chemistry behind making ice cream! We'll show you how to make ice cream at home with salt and ice, and we'll also talk about the theory of liquid nitrogen ice cream (which we'd normally have at in-person Splash).

W13767: Liquid Nitrogen (LN2) Ice Cream in Spark 2020 (Mar. 14 - 15, 2020)
Want to watch some cool chemistry and eat some cool liquid? Come join us for a delicious treat!!!

W13922: Non-Newtonian Fluids in Spark 2020 (Mar. 14 - 15, 2020)
will fill out later

W13928: Hot Salt Frying in Spark 2020 (Mar. 14 - 15, 2020)
Hot salt frying is a traditional Asian street food cooking technique. Come learn how it's done and enjoy some sunflower seeds, chestnuts, and other snacks!

S13527: Exploring Ocean Life: Climate Change Edition in Splash 2019 (Nov. 23 - 24, 2019)
The climate is changing—so is the field of marine biology. Learn about how acidic oceans, rising ocean levels, and warmer climates affect the ocean and the life it supports. We'll be applying higher level chemistry, biology, and geology in order to fully understand the intricate connections between the climate and the ocean.

S13528: Exploring Ocean Life: From Mangroves to the Marianas in Splash 2019 (Nov. 23 - 24, 2019)
Learn about diverse ocean ecosystems around the world. We will be focusing on what makes each ecosystem unique and how ocean life interacts with the environment and each other. Some cool animals we'll be learning about include 512-year-old Greenland sharks, an octopus named after how adorable it is, and coral polyps (yes, corals are animals!).

W13672: Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream(LN2) in Splash 2019 (Nov. 23 - 24, 2019)
Want to watch some cool chemistry and eat some cool liquid? Come join us for a delicious treat!!! Lactose-free options are available
