Brief Biographical Sketch:

Hi, I'm Abi from Ipswich, Massachusetts! I am a current Freshman studying Course 2 (Mechanical Engineering) at MIT. My passions include robotics, the outdoors, music, and dance.

My most impactful introduction to engineering was participating in FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) in high school. As part of my school's FRC team, I learned about mechanical and electrical assembly, computer-aided design, project-management, and more! Additionally, I learned how to work together with other like-minded team members to achieve common goals: building the coolest robot we can, gaining real engineering experience, and having fun while doing it.

Here at MIT, I am continuing to build cool robots and develop my engineering skills as a member of the Combat Robots Club (as seen on BattleBots!).

Now, I will be co-teaching my first ever Splash course to share my passion for engineering with all of you!

E15737: Intro to CAD with Onshape! in Splash 2023 (Nov. 18 - 19, 2023)
NOTE: Students should bring their own laptop device (Windows, Mac, Chromebook, etc.) and mouse if possible. If you don't have a device that fits this requirement, no worries, we will have a limited number of devices available for your use! CAD, or computer-aided design, has applications in engineering, architecture, 3D printing, interior design, and more. Plus, it is loads of fun! Whether you aspire to work in one of these fields or just love to design your own maker projects, this class is for you! We will be learning the fundamentals of CAD using Onshape, a web-based CAD software that can be accessed on any laptop device. Skills such as creating sketches, extruding parts, and forming assemblies will be taught in a project-based approach. Example projects include 3D-printable name keychains, geartrain models, and more!  No experience is required, and all are welcome!
