S15601: Herbal Medicine: Not Just Essential Oils! in Spark 2023 (Mar. 18 - 19, 2023)
If you've ever wondered about plants being used in medicine, this cool class might be of interest to you! The class will take a close look at Mexican traditional medicine in particular, so if you've ever had to take a "remedio" or know what Vix VapoRub is, then you'll do great! If not, you'll still do just fine! You'll get to smell a few herbs or so, and we'll explore what makes medicinal plants so special.

S15167: Candy Science: Where "Softball" isn't Talking about the Sport in Splash 2022 (Nov. 19 - 20, 2022)
Do you enjoy chocolate? Have you ever wondered how candy is made? Come find out at this class! We will explain how different temperatures and ratios of sugars to fats affect the structure and texture of the resulting candy and talk about some of the fun features of chocolate. And of course you'll have the chance to make (and eat) some candy of your own. We will teach you how to pull taffy and properly cover candy in chocolate. Stop by for a delicious lesson!

E15065: Welcome to Fuga-City! Thermodynamics 101 in HSSP Summer 2022 (Jul. 09, 2022)
An introduction to the properties of invisible things: heat, enthalpy, energy and pressure, decoding the mystery of entropy and fugacity, applications of thermodynamics in engineering and in everyday activities.

X14770: Candy-Making Science in Splash 2021 (Nov. 20 - 21, 2021)
You could either wait till Halloween to get your sugar fix, or you could, you know, have it any time you like, at any time of the year, without having to get out of your kitchen even once to the point where you can just live next to your stove and sleep with your candy thermometer. Candy-making sure is a dangerous power to have, and it could be yours for the low, low, low price of taking this class. Along the way you’ll learn things that are also science-y, like crystals and stuff probably.
