Brief Biographical Sketch:

I grew up in Salt Lake City, planning on becoming a professional skier --- until I discovered physics as a freshman in college. Since then I have done research in astrophysics, high-energy theory, and condensed matter theory. When not doing physics I enjoy climbing and learning languages, especially Chinese.

S15016: How (and why) to build a quantum computer in Spark 2022 (Mar. 12 - 13, 2022)
In this class, we will learn some basics about quantum computers: what they are, how people are trying to build them, and why physicists find them so interesting.


H15017: A brief history of Chinese in Spark 2022 (Mar. 12 - 13, 2022)
In this class, we will learn about the history of Chinese: how the writing system came to be and evolved over time, the battles fought between the northern and southern dialects, and how characters were nearly eliminated altogether in the 20th century.
