Brief Biographical Sketch:
I am a freshman at MIT who hopes to study mathematics and computer science in preparation for a career researching artificial intelligence. I have been interested in effective altruism for several years and hope to help others become effective altruists as well. Thanks largely to accelerating technological progress, humanity may be approaching a critical phase in its development. Our future depends on how well we protect against threats like bioterrorism and nuclear warfare, but also how responsibly we develop new technologies like artificial intelligence and nanotechnology. What can we do to ensure a long, fruitful career for mankind?
