Why is the Earth's atmosphere thin? What is the escape velocity of the Earth and why is it important? Why do commercial jets cruise at an altitude of around 30,000 to 40,000 feet? We will explore atmospheric physics and chemistry topics such as the chemical composition of the atmosphere and its layers and compare Earth's atmosphere to Venus's.
