P16467: Stop Motion! Foley! & History of Animation in Spark 2026 (Mar. 14 - 15, 2026)
Become the director of your very own, very short film! Learn about the history of animation, the basics of stop motion, and the art of foley (sound design). The game plan:
- 30 mins: lecture on animation history, learn how to get started!
- 60 mins: design, film, and direct a ~10 second short film, complete with sound effects! All materials will be provided, and we will show you to how to download a stop motion app.
- 30 mins: showcase! see your classmates' work and learn how to put your newfound skills to use.
A16292: The Most Noble Art of Dungeons and Dragons: Theory and Practice in Splash Fall 2025 (Nov. 22 - 23, 2025)
An introduction, followed by practical experience in the art of meeting in taverns, going on quests, slaying monsters, and the various other hijinks that comprise the most noble art of Dungeons and Dragons. We'll start at the beginning, so don't worry if you have no experience---we'll teach you! After character creation, we'll dive into a brief one-shot led by our Dungeon Masters (all MIT students), and by the end, you'll be ready to play (or even start) your own campaign at home! All supplies will be provided.
