Brief Biographical Sketch:

I've grown up reading stories, hearing stories and telling stories. Of course, in my free time I do other things too. There are puzzles to be solved, rocks to be climbed, new things to be learned and food to be cooked, to name a few. I've been a student and will be one again. Math and ecology battle for my attention most times, though I think they've ganged up on me lately.

S2303: How Animals Learn - or - Who's smarter: a crow, an octopus, a chimpanzee or a two year old? in Spark! Spring 2009 (Mar. 07, 2009)
Come learn a little bit about the world of animal cognition. Along the way, we'll probably talk about instinct - what it's good for and where it fails, the value of competition when teaching parrots, how more species than we think use tools regularly, and why the intro question just isn't fair.
