Brief Biographical Sketch:
I grew up in Boulder, Colorado and graduated from CU Boulder with bachelor's degrees in mechanical engineering and engineering physics in Spring 2024. I'm now in MIT's Technology & Policy Program. I'm also a research assistant in MIT's Humanitarian Supply Chains Lab, where I'm studying post-disaster housing. In my free time, I love outdoor adventures, playing saxophone, reading, and spending time with my cats! This class is an introduction to the study of political theory, which asks: Are capitalism and democracy compatible? Are they in conflict? We will use his contemporary problem to understand how academics develop ideas and arguments about politics. This seminar will involve a short lecture on contributions to this problem by both classical and contemporary theorists, followed by an interactive workshop focused on constructing compelling analytical arguments via discussion and written expression.
