Brief Biographical Sketch:

Bio: Nikolai was born and raised in Wellesley, Massachusetts. He started building when he got his first set of legos and never looked back. In 7th grade, he completed a project on surgical robots and has been focused on medical device design ever since. He graduated in spring of 2009 from MIT with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, and is currently working towards his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering at MIT. When he isn't working at MIT, Nikolai is usually on a ski slope somewhere in Vermont, on the hockey rink, playing the piano, working out, or trying to invent something new and delicious in the kitchen.

E2886: Invention Workshop in Splash! 2009 (Nov. 21 - 22, 2009)
Have you ever dreamed of creating something new that changes the way people live their lives? In this course, we'll cover what invention really means, how it has changed over history, and what tools you need to be a successful inventor today. Finally, we'll invent something of our own and practice group brainstorming and concept selection. Topics will include a brief history, problem/need identification, concept generation and selection, proof of concept, patents, and idea transfer.
