M2970: The Riemann Zeta Function in Splash! 2009 (Nov. 21 - 22, 2009)
We will use the Riemann zeta function to prove a number of facts about primes. Then, we will extend the Riemann zeta function to all complex numbers, allowing us to state the most famous unsolved problem in mathematics: The Riemann Hypothesis. We will continue by generalizing the Riemann zeta function to other objects of mathematical interest.
