Strong private key cryptography is important in the modern world, but if it is to be used to communicate privately, key distribution is a nightmare. Public key cryptography solves this problem. Theory and applications of RSA will be the focus. Diffie-Hellman (and Elgamal) will be mentioned time permitting.
