Behind the entertaining stories and catchy songs that characterize Disney movies, a whole new world of sociological study can be opened up by studying the evolution of Disney Princess. From the passive Snow White to the headstrong Ariel, Disney princesses hold a mirror to the transformation of women in Western society. This class will be a quick jaunt through Disney while taking a look at the implications the portrayal of princesses has for modern society. Of course, discussion will be supplemented with primary research (i.e. watching clips of Disney movies).
