A9946: Intro to Photography in Splash 2015 (Nov. 21 - 22, 2015)
Ever wondered what the heck an f-stop or an ISO is? Have you ever even heard of these words! This class will teach the basics of photography. We will cover framing, the rule of thirds, shutter speed, exposure, and a whole mess of other factors that go into a fantastic photo. After learning the basics, we will then go on a photo safari through the jungle of Splash to put theory into practice.

The moon hangs overhead as you graze on dew soaked grass. Suddenly, the wind changes, and you smell a fox. You bolt, but it's too late for your fellow rabbit who is caught and devoured. Welcome to World of Rabbits. Taking place in the setting of Watership Down and created in 1976, Bunnies & Burrows is a landmark pen and paper RPG that was the first to introduce playing non-humanoid characters, a skill based level system, and a detailed martial arts system. Seriously. Come and play a really old and really unique RPG.


X9512: RPG Design and Theory in HSSP Summer 2015 (Jul. 12, 2015)
CRITICAL HIT! The big bad is vanquished by the swing of your sword or your alien laser blast. In this class, we will examine the structure of tabletop RPGs, such as Dungeons & Dragons, by playing and examining the probabilistic elements, creative structures, balance, and collaborative storytelling that comprise these games. As a final project, you will use what you learned to prototype your own unique RPG, which we will test in class.


C9217: eSports: Competive Games Done Quick in Spark 2015 (Mar. 14 - 15, 2015)
This course will provide a chronologically presented history of the design and development of the phenomenon of competitive video games, or ESports, and an analysis of the modern subcultures, ethics, politics, and key figures in the competitive scene. During key segments of this section we will discuss map design across genres and games like Starcraft, League of Legends, DOTA, and Counterstrike.

Instead, you will hear the tales of mighty men and women as they live out their exceptional, fascinating and occasionally incredibly dumb lives. In addition, any student that would like to share a favorite historical story of theirs is welcome to speak during the class.
