What does Beyoncé's album $$\textit{Cowboy Carter}$$ , Kendrick Lamar's Superbowl halftime show, and $$\textit{Captain American: The Winter Soldier}$$ have in common? In this class, we will look at pop culture depictions of America and try to unpack what in the world are these artists talking about. We will connect these depictions to history and contemporary politics paint a picture on this concept of "America." Students are free to bring examples from their favorite shows, movies, and songs as well!
