Brief Biographical Sketch:

My co-teacher and I had the most epic experience the first time we understood gyrocompasses. We were arguing about who was right for about an hour and had our minds blown in the end when we realized we were BOTH right. And we just wanted to share that feeling with any interested victims. Er, students.

That's pretty much the only thing worth mentioning about my life. Alright, physics!

S2719: "Dude, which way's North...?" A Crash Course in Gyroscopic Motion in Splash! 2009 (Nov. 21 - 22, 2009)
This class covers the craziest, most unholy portion of Newtonian mechanics known to man- gyroscopic motion. We intend to focus specifically on the gyrocompass and, building upon it, teach the physics that describes its motion, from angular momentum to torque and beyond... ...but we're really explaining why some things keep spinning when common sense holds that they should fall. [Fear the gyroscope.]
