ADAM KIM, MIT Graduate Student Studying Mechatronics

Major: Mechanical Engineering

College/Employer: MIT

Year of Graduation: G

Picture of Adam Kim

Brief Biographical Sketch:

I studied Mechanical Engineering (focusing on mechanism design) and Electrical Engineering (focusing on digital signal processing and control theory) in a dual degree program at the University of Michigan's College of Engineering. Pursuing the two engineering disciplines have also led me to study control theory and its application in mechatronic and embedded systems, and achieve proficiency in various programming languages and simulation softwares.
As a graduate student I am currently working on developing high-acceleration permanent magnet actuators for semiconductor fabrication applications.

E15643: DIY: Mini Magnetically-Levitated Trains in HSSP Summer 2023 (Jul. 09, 2023)
Did you know that the fastest trains in the world are based on magnetic levitation (maglev) technology? Come and learn about how each component of this technology works together to create a frictionless, linear propulsion system. We will walk through step-by-step the physics and the math to design and analyze a miniaturized maglev mover.
