Brief Biographical Sketch:

Franklin Wei lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He spends much of his time building and fixing things, including electronics, optical systems, software, and mechanical hardware. He tends to gravitate toward projects that mix thinking with making.

He has worked on a wide range of systems, from medical imaging devices to machine tools and old aircraft, and is generally more comfortable in a lab or workshop than in a meeting. He is interested in how complex systems actually fail, not just how they are supposed to work.

Outside of work, Franklin skates long distances, plays fingerstyle guitar, skis when there is snow, and tinkers with open source software and hardware projects. He has a long standing habit of taking things apart to see what is inside, sometimes with permission.
