ESP Biography

ELIZABETH ATTAWAY, Rather nerdy math major. Oh, and I like Star Trek.

Major: Mathematics

College/Employer: MIT

Year of Graduation: 2014

Picture of Elizabeth Attaway

Brief Biographical Sketch:

My four-year mission: To explore strange new worlds, to seek out new math and new awesome equations, to boldly go where...well, plenty of men have gone here before, actually...
I'm obsessed with the original Star Trek series and starting to get into TNG. I really like Star Wars as well. I have a lightsaber in my dorm room and firmly believe red shirts are bad luck.
This is my first time teaching for Splash, and I'm very excited!
I guess there's not much more to say. Oh, sorry my picture isn't very good. If you figure out why I have a blue drink and a copy of A Tale of Two Cities in it, you win a prize.
Elizabeth out!

H4125: Star Trek and the 1960s in Splash! 2010 (Nov. 20 - 21, 2010)
Remember that episode with the space hippies? Yes? How about the one where Kirk starts the Vietnam War on the planet Neural? I didn't think so. We'll talk about how Star Trek: The Original Series reflected issues of the 60s, and maybe even discuss the movies a little. Not to mention you'll get to hear William Shatner recite the Preamble to the Constitution (We..........the PEEEEOPLE!)

S4127: You Canna Change the Laws of Physics: Science Mistakes in Star Trek in Splash! 2010 (Nov. 20 - 21, 2010)
Despite Scotty's protests, the Enterprise crew seems to do a lot of messing around with the laws of physics, not to mention biology. Heck, they don't even get their math right half the time! Check out the errors I noticed in Star Trek: The Original Series, point out any I may have missed, and try to come up with a good explanation of the stardate system, if such a thing is possible. :)

S3804: SAT Prep Verbal - MATLAB in SATPrep Fall 2010 (Sep. 26, 2010)
