S8450: Cancer Immunology in HSSP Summer 2014 (Jul. 06, 2014)
Understanding the relationship between developing tumors and the immune system has lead to groundbreaking cancer immunotherapies. The importance of an immune response in different types of cancer is clear, and the field of cancer immunology has expanded rapidly in the past decade. But many questions are still unanswered: how do tumors escape immune surveillance? Is the immune response against the tumor or tumor-mediated immunosuppressive actions more important in cancer? This course will provide a background in cancer biology and immunology, explore the discoveries made within the past decade, and detail the current immunology research aimed at conquering cancer.

S7633: Neuroimmunology in Splash! 2013 (Nov. 23 - 24, 2013)
Your immune system and nervous system have an interesting relationship that is vital to your health. This class will provide a brief introduction to both systems, and then will cover diseases that arise due to a malfunctioning immune system. These include diseases like multiple sclerosis and Huntington’s disease.

S7238: Immunology in HSSP Summer 2013 (Jul. 07, 2013)
Every day your body faces millions of pathogens, yet human beings are able to live as long as 100 years! One of the key reasons for this is the immune system. This class will explore the amazing beast that is the human immune system on a molecular, cellular, and organismal level. We will cover not only the components of the immune system, but also the history and discoveries behind modern science's understanding of immunology, and how this understanding applies to your life. This class will assume a strong biology background in order to provide depth into the complex yet fascinating aspects of immunology.

S7002: Neuroimmunology in Spark! 2013 (Mar. 16, 2013)
Your immune system and nervous system have an interesting relationship that is vital to your health. This class will provide a brief introduction to both systems, and then will cover diseases that arise due to a malfunctioning immune system. These include diseases like multiple sclerosis and Huntington’s disease.

S6008: Sensation and Perception in HSSP Summer 2012 (Jul. 08, 2012)
We hardly consciously notice it, but our senses are constantly gathering data about the world we live in. In this class, we will explore the role of the nervous system - including the brain and peripheral nerves - in creating our perceptions. We will also go over basic anatomy and the cognitive processing that takes place to make sense of gathered data.
