Brief Biographical Sketch:

Hullo, everyone! My name's Gabi, and I'm a biologically-inclined sophomore at MIT with a flair for dramatics. I'm Puerto Rican, I'm from Florida, and I'm so not okay with 30 degree weather in the middle of October.

I love writing, rocking out, integrating, and singing horribly, and I've been known to do all four at once, so get excited.

Anyway, I hope to meet you all soon - I'm teaching a pseudo-fashion-type class for SPLASH with my Cambodian partner-in-crime Susana (pictured with me!), so go sign up! Rock on with yo bad selves ;)

Past Classes

(Look at the class archive for more.)

Project Runway in Splash! 2009 (Nov. 21 - 22, 2009)
Students are taken to the local Garment District and given twenty minutes to choose two dollars worth of clothing from the giant dollar-a-pound pile of clothes on the first floor. From there, they return to the room and have an hour to turn the scrap pieces into their own creation - they can cut them up, add sparkles, pin them, glue them - whatever they need to do to make their vision a reality. At the end of the hour, there'll be a half hour fashion show complete with music that my partner and I will judge. Each designer can either choose a model or can model themselves for the show, and the concept behind the design must be explained. Basically, it's a way to play around with scrap clothes and potentially make something cool!

Make Your Own Fashion Project! in Splash! 2008 (Nov. 22 - 23, 2008)
This class is solely to enhance your own creativity! There is a store called the Garment District that is filled with clothes for cheap, though it'll take a bit of looking to actually find something. That's your job! Me and another student are going to take the class to the Garment District and have them scout out for items to create something ugly into in style fashion!
