Brief Biographical Sketch:

Hi! I'm an incoming senior at MIT majoring in Chemistry & Biology and minoring in Music. I grew up in Hawaii, and yes, Boston is really cold.

I've been doing research in a structural biology lab for the past 2.5 years. I love proteins and xray crystallography. I'm happy to talk bio any time.

More importantly, I am a huge music nerd. I started playing the piano when I was 4 and picked up the viola in middle school. I've been playing orchestras since then. For the past 3 years, I have been the viola principal as well as the librarian in the MIT Symphony Orchestra. I've also taken a few music classes at MIT: western music history, 19th century music, theory 1, global pop, and the Beatles. Excited to share with you the cool stuff about classical music!

This fun and interactive introductory class will tour the lives of famous classical music composers, both men and women, as well as modern performers. We will discuss various instruments, cover basic chord progressions, and uncover classical influences on pop music (Beatles, Elvis Presley, Little Mix, & more!) YouTube videos. Movie excerpts. Weird facts. Learn how to appreciate classical music so you don't fall asleep the next time you attend a concert.
