Registration for Spring HSSP!

This page will guide you through Spring HSSP's online registration process. If you have any questions, check out the FAQ page. Please email spring-hssp@mit.edu if you have further questions.

No Parents Past This Point, Please! We require our students to exercise independence when selecting classes and contacting us with questions.

Registration Steps:

1 Bookmark this page. You'll need to return here for instructions throughout the registration process.
2 Create an Account. If you already have an ESP account, log in. Otherwise, create one now! Here are the steps:
  • Go to esp.mit.edu/myesp/register and fill out your basic information. Choose a username and password that you'll use to log in.
  • Next, check your email account for a message containing a confirmation link (it might take a minute to arrive).
  • Click the confirmation link. Enter the username and password you just chose to continue.
  • Finally, you can enter more detailed profile information.
When you're done, return to this page. Accounts are permanent, so you don't have to create a new one every time you attend an ESP program. Note: you must use a student account, not a parent account, to register for HSSP!
3 Enter the Class Lottery. Space in popular classes is limited, so we run a lottery to determine who gets these seats. Be sure to read the directions carefully. Once preferences are due, we'll run the lottery algorithm, which attempts to place students into classes fairly based on your rankings.

Shortly after the lottery closes, we will notify you of the classes that you received. We will provide you with further details about how to proceed with your registration.

We don't send out a confirmation email after registration. If your choices appear on the registration page, then they have been saved to the website, and you're all set.

Questions? See our FAQ.
4 Review Your Classes and Adjust Your Schedule. In the first-come, first-served (FCFS) phase, you will be able to review the classes you received in the lottery and see the list of classes with open space. Then you will be able to change your schedule, dropping any classes you don't want and joining any with free space on a first-come, first-served basis. Students who missed the lottery can also register for classes during FCFS.
5 Get ready for HSSP! Make sure you have filled out the waiver and completed payment or a financial aid application before the program starts. Remember to check your email periodically, since we will send important logistical information and reminders. Also, be sure to browse through the Program Details page so you know what to expect day-of.
