Brief Biographical Sketch:

Hi! My name is Bhuvna Murthy and I am GlobeMed's Global Health University Co-Director. I am looking forward to an amazing day full of really interesting lessons on global health and GlobeMed. I am planning to major in Course 20 and am currently involved in various on-campus clubs including class council, Medlinks, and my sorority! Outside of school, I really like to dance, swim, and play tennis for fun and I really want to travel to Europe for a long trip some time in the next couple years. I currently live in Maseeh LL (it isn’t a dungeon I swear) and I love the people on my floor and all the amazing friends I’ve made so far and hope to continue doing so. GlobeMed is an organization looking to improve global health and college student involvement in it. We participate in various local and international partnerships to further our cause. I am really looking forward to the next six weeks.

With the growth of Taliban control and civil unrest in Afghanistan, we turn our attention to the intersection of government, feminism, and access to healthcare. In this class, we’ll define global health and women’s health, consider how the Taliban could impact women’s access to healthcare, and ways to ensure global access to medical care for all people. This class includes content that may be disturbing, please consider your sensitivity before enrolling. MIT Global Health Alliance is an undergraduate organization dedicated to promoting global health and health equity.
