Be sure you have a website account.
You'll need to log in to your account to complete the rest of registration. If you don't have an account, you can register an account first.

1 Fill out the medical information form!

You may need a parent to help you fill out our medical form. [FAQ]

After you complete the form, the system will automatically redirect you to step 2.

2 Register for Spark!
No parents beyond this point! We strongly encourage students to select their classes independently!

Enter the class lottery. This crucial step makes you a Spark student. [FAQ]

You will be asked to indicate which classes you prefer, and you should expect to be assigned to some of them in the lottery. There's no need to be first; anyone who completes Step 2 before the deadline (Sunday, March 4, 11:59 pm) is treated equally.

Generally, any student who enters the lottery with a sufficient number and range of classes will receive classes through the lottery. Students who hope to receive a lot of classes should indicate interest in a lot of classes! Every student who completes registration for Spark is welcome to attend, but due to the lottery system, we cannot guarantee that students will receive a certain quantity of classes. To maximize your chances of getting a class, we recommend you rank all 3 and star at least 10 classes in each time block.

NOTE: you will not need to choose a lunch period at this stage of registration. In fact, you will be unable to choose a lunch period at this point — after submitting your preferences, our lottery system will handle assigning you a lunch period based on the schedule you get.

3

Review your classes. Schedules assigned based on your lottery preferences will be released after the lottery closes; at that time, you may check which classes you've received. You should receive a logistics email from us around that time; whitelist the domain @esp.mit.edu to ensure you receive the email.

Credit card payment, financial aid applications, and t-shirt reservations are open during this same period, and will be available at the student registration page. (Only cash and check are accepted on the day of the program.).

4

Adjust your schedule during the class-changes period. During this phase you will be able to immediately enroll in classes that have space from the student registration page..

5 Forms.

You must submit a completed liability waiver during morning check-in. Please do not email the waiver to us. This requires a signature by a parent or guardian, so be sure to fill out the form before coming to Spark!

If you haven't paid or applied for financial aid online, you can apply for financial aid or pay via cash or a check made out to MIT ESP when you check in.

6 Prepare for Spark!

Be sure to check your email periodically, since we will send important logistical information and reminders.

Also, be sure to browse through the Program Details page so you know what to expect day-of.
