We're using a simple first-come, first-served system for now. If classes start to fill up quickly, we may switch to something different for the remaining registrations.

We also intend to offer a few more classes--specifically Economics, Latin (Vergil), and Physics C. We'll add those in a few days if we can.

AP Music Theory
Teachers: Benjamin Park

This class is intended to develop your ability to analyze and use patterns and materials of common practice music. Some focus will be given to composition (harmony and counterpoint) and sightsinging.

Prerequisites
Some very basic ability to sing or play music from notation (i.e., an ability to recognize notes on a staff, etc.).

English Literature

The Advanced Placement Program describes the course as engaging "students in the careful reading and critical analysis of imaginative literature.”

With this in mind, students will learn, through close reading various pieces of literature, how a writer uses the language of a piece to both entertain and inform the reader. The course will be divided up into multiple sections, each dedicated to a different phase of literature, from Classical to European literature.

Prerequisites
None

Latin AP Preparation

The Latin AP is undergoing a complete revision,
to be finalized after this Spring. Many schools
are dropping their AP courses leaving students
who have studied Latin for several years unable
to take the exam for college credit. To respond
to this situation, Delve is offering a course that
covers the current readings for the Vergil exam.
Intermediate reading knowledge at the level of
Cicero or Ovid is required.

Prerequisites
Ability to read Latin at an intermediate level, i.e. authors such as Cicero or Ovid.

Calculus AB

A full year's calculus class, covering differential and integral calculus.

Prerequisites
Algebra I and II, Geometry, and some sort of Precalculus or Trigonometry course.

Physics C - Mechanics and Electromagnetism

This college-level course will prepare students for the AP Physics C test (both Mechanics and E&M). Lectures will be supplemented with demonstrations. Students are expected to spend time outside of class to thoroughly learn the material. Problem sets will be assigned on a weekly basis.

Prerequisites
Advanced Algebra and Trigonometry. Calculus background is preferred, however if you are currently taking Calculus or are highly motivated, you will be fine. Prior physics background is also preferred, but again, not required.

Physics B
Teachers: Michael Ciuffo

This course will prepare students for the AP Physics B exam as well as introduce them to general physics concepts applied in the real world.

Prerequisites
Advanced Algebra and Trigonometry

Chemistry Full!
Teachers: Joubert Glover

College-level general chemistry course intended to prepare the student for the College Board AP Chemistry exam in May 2009. Students are expected to do the assigned textbook reading and all homework problems each week, as well as to come prepared with questions for each class. This course requires significant after-class preparation and time.

Prerequisites
Algebra II; we highly recommend that you have taken one year of high school chemistry prior to this course

Biology Full!

This class is roughly equivalent to a first-year college biology class. General topics will include molecules and cells, heredity and evolution, and organisms and populations.

Prerequisites
One year each of biology and chemistry at the high school level is strongly recommended.
